About The Position

The Charge Nurse assists the Clinical Manager and/or Nursing Director with the management of the unit including participating in employee evaluation, staffing and scheduling, patient and preceptor assignments, oversight of resource utilization, and initiating and overseeing quality improvement activities. The Charge Nurse acts as a resource and provides information/education to unit staff. The charge nurse is involved in service recovery, promoting customer service to both internal and external customers. The Charge Nurse is a role model and proponent of the professional nurse as exemplified by their presence on the unit, participation in nursing department initiatives such as the acquisition of Magnet Certification, and organizational committee meetings.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (required).
• Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required).
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required).
• Participation in the Nurse Residency program for new RN graduates (required).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (preferred).
• Two years of hospital patient care experience (preferred).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (may be required for specific clinical areas).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (may be required for specific clinical areas).

Responsibilities
