Responsibilities As a Charge Nurse, coordinates daily activities and distribution of work in area during scheduled shift; as a Preceptor Nurse, acts as a professional educator and resource for new employees, demonstrating clinical expertise and competence. The approximate amount of overall participation in direct patient care activities is 80% and Charge‑Preceptor duties is 20%. The range of roles between Charge and Preceptor may vary dependent upon patient acuity and volume issues. Works with a unit specific patient population. Care and/or services will be provided to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This position is required to set priorities based on the situation at hand, and is a combination of direct patient care, management (charge), and education (preceptor) roles with responsibility for a unit during an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift. The 3C General Medicine/ Neuroscience unit at Northside Hospital Forsyth is a 34-bed unit which serves to provide interdisciplinary, 24/7 care, primarily to an adult and geriatric population. The unit features all private, acute care rooms with telemetry capabilities. Our major diagnoses include patients with alteration of following systems: Respiratory Gastrointestinal Renal Neurological Neurosurgical Cardiovascular Endocrine Pulmonary Immune We also treat patients requiring continuous video EEG monitoring.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree
  • Two (2) years recent experience in current clinical specialty (i.e., critical care, surgical services, diabetes education, radiology, etc.)
  • Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
