Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current Nursing License in the State of Kansas.
  • 2-year degree.
  • Current Kansas RN licensure.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • ACLS certification - unit specific.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 year degree.
  • Preference given to RNs with experience in a similar healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, responsible for overall shift management and monitoring of the quality of care for designated area.
  • Serve as a liaison to keep the Nurse Manager and House Supervisor apprised of major occurrences and needs of the unit.
  • Provide first level supervision, make patient assignments every shift, and provide clinical support to nursing personnel.
  • Assist in mentoring of new associates, academic partners, and participate in annual performance review process.
  • Assess patient/family needs, develop and prioritize patient goals, evaluate care delivery, and continually revise the plan of care.
  • Delegate care as appropriate to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
