Position Overview Department: 6 North Telemetry Schedule: Full-Time Weekends Nights, 2 12-Hour Shifts, 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, Saturday and Sunday Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East, Birmingham, AL Benefits for eligible positions include: generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more Unit Details : 6 North Telemetry is a n 18 - bed intermediate care unit specializ ing in car ing for cardi ovascular patients with a diagnosis or comorbidities who may need telemetry monitoring. Nurses on this unit will develop or advance their skills to detect medical or cardi ovascular issues, communicate with providers, and discover interventions to prevent emergent situations . R esponsibilities for nurses on this unit include assessments, rhythm interpretations, lab value analys es , patient and family education , wound care, IV management , and medication administration and management. Advanced technology in the form of telemetry nursing support is enabled to help bedside staff treat patients with the highest level of care . What You Will Do Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care in assigned area. Assign, direct, educate and monitor nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Contribute to or perform performance evaluations of staff. Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given. Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Respond to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels. May provide input for hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff. What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. ACLS may be reguired in some units (Step Down and ICU) within 6-months of date hire or transfer Education: Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and professional licensure/certification required. 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
