About The Position

Presbyterian is seeking a Charge Nurse on a Cardiac Critical Care Unit (CCC). They are responsible for overseeing patient care and leading the nursing team in a specialized cardiac care environment. They ensure the smooth operation of the unit during their shift, coordinate care for patients with complex cardiac conditions, including heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, post-surgical care for cardiac procedures and act as a liaison between staff and management. Their role involves supervising nursing staff, managing patient care plans, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care. Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • Minimum one year of nursing experience required
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with acute cardiac conditions, including post-surgical recovery, heart failure, myocardial infarctions, and arrhythmias.
  • Monitor and manage patients requiring advanced therapies such as hemodynamic monitoring, ventilators, ECMO, and intra-aortic balloon pumps.
  • Administer medications, perform advanced cardiac assessments, and intervene in life-threatening emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Educate patients and families on managing cardiac conditions, including lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and recognizing warning signs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including cardiologists, dietitians, physical therapists, and case managers, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
