About The Position

The Charge Nurse - Med/Surg/Peds works under general supervision, the Charge RN is responsible for the planning, directing and evaluation of total nursing care and functions on their assigned unit during a given period of time in accordance with established philosophy and policies and procedures. Relates effectively with other shifts and departments, participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records and upgrading of policies, procedures and skills.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
1-2 years nursing experience preferred or recent completion nursing education program.
Demonstrates excellence in customer service and professional conduct.
Possesses good communication skills.
Interacts appropriately and positively with peers, patients, families, physicians, and professionals.
Maintains professionalism in the community, protects the confidentiality of the patient and serves as a patient advocate at all times.
The Charge RN on Medical or Surgical Units has the ability to function as a resource to coworkers.
Must demonstrate ability to lead others and monitor/observe employee work performance and correct inappropriate/incorrect performance as it occurs.
Demonstrates ability to direct others and delegate appropriately and fairly.
Current Michigan license.
BCLS required within 30 days of hire.
ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire.
Achieves 80% or better on medication test.
