About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Charge Nurse - LPN/RN to join our team! JOB SUMMARY: Charge nurse functions as the shift leader and resource nurse who advocates for patient care and safety as well as managing all clinical staff members. As needed, the Charge Nurse will also provide direct and indirect patient care in a clinic setting. Communicate with providers/co-workers/clinic manager, as appropriate, about changes in patient’s condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomology. Charge nurse will be able and prepared to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision to include the duties of the Registered Nurse. Supervises clinical roles including Medical Assistants, and IV Staff. Additional responsibilities will be listed on separate document “Charge Nurse Responsibilities” and will be adjusted as Manager and clinic needs arise. CHARGE NURSE RESPONSIBILITIES The Charge Nurse is expected to perform a set of duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the clinic to advocate patient care and safety. The Charge Nurse is expected to govern processes of the clinic that far exceed making room and staffing assignments each day. The Charge Nurse must be able to speak to issues that need to be addressed or report to the Supervisor/Clinic Manager. The Charge Nurse must have the ability to perform according to Mountain View Hospital Policies and Procedures. The Charge Nurse is expected to know and continue to seek knowledge of clinic procedures and processes and is expected to act as a leader and resource to staff as needed. To perform as resource nurse, the Charge Nurse is expected to have excellent working knowledge of the equipment and procedures performed in the Clinic. The Charge Nurse needs to educate and explain various situations as needed to other staff members in a confident, positive manner. The Charge Nurse needs to be able to question processes and address and report to the Supervisor as needed. Any Charge Nurse who feels they are not able to carry out the responsibilities to include, but not limited to those below, should make this known to the Clinic Manager. STAFF CONDUCT The Charge Nurse is responsible for the conduct of the clinical staff and setting a professional tone and maintaining it throughout the clinic. The Charge nurse will problem-solve and facilitate conflict resolution between staff members/departments. Professionalism is expected to deal with patients, families, and coworkers throughout the organization. The Charge Nurse is expected to know and uphold the Policies and Procedures of Mountain View Hospital. STAFFING MANAGEMENT The Charge Nurse will work closely with the Clinic Manager to ensure staffing is managed in an efficient and expeditious manner. If patient census warrants calling staff off, the Charge Nurse should place staff “On Call” (OC) if there is a possibility they would be needed during the shift. On-Call hours are paid at $3/hr for the hours not worked and must be entered by the employee in PayCom. Staff placed “On Call” must be available to report to the clinic within 30 minutes if called in at anytime during the scheduled shift. Staff placed on “Low Census” (LC) will have no obligation to work should the need arise and does not receive on-call pay. Use “Low Census” only if it is highly unlikely; they will be needed for the shift. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current licensure in the state of Idaho.
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification and renewals as required.
  • LPN accepted, RN preferred.
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to use EHR software.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.
  • Able to calculate correct doses by applying necessary formulas as needed.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve and handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • In addition to the nursing duties and responsibilities, a Charge Nurse will complete any relevant and required Charge Nurse Course training modules.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to experience in an out-patient, clinical setting.
  • Bilingual -Spanish preferred.
