About The Position

The Charge Nurse at the Ambulatory Surgery Center is responsible for both clinical management and administrative coordination within the procedural and surgical unit. This role combines direct patient care with leadership responsibilities, including training, mentoring, and policy implementation. The Charge Nurse supervises a team of nurses and healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance with UCLA Health policies and regulatory guidelines, particularly in sterile processing and scope reprocessing standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of recent OR Circulator experience in a hospital or ambulatory operating room.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Perioperative Charge RN experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
• BSN and/or MSN required.
• Current CA RN license required.

Nice To Haves

• Surgical Scrub experience preferred.
• Experience circulating and/or scrubbing service lines such as General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, ENT, OB/GYN, Interventional Pain, or Podiatry preferred.
• Experience with administration of moderate sedation preferred.
• Experience with circulating and/or scrubbing Endoscopic GI procedures preferred.
• Experience in PTU/PACU/MPU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical management and administrative coordination of the procedural and/or surgical unit.
• Supervise and lead a team of nurses and healthcare professionals in a combined GI/MPU and ASC unit.
• Conduct in-service training and clinical competence assessments.
• Coach and mentor nursing staff.
• Collaborate with the unit manager to develop and implement policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with UCLA Health policies and regulatory guidelines.
