About The Position

Regions Hospital is looking to hire an adaptable, critical-thinking, detail‑oriented, and organized individual to join our team as a Charge Master Coding Analyst. This team uses its clinical knowledge and expertise to compare medical record documentation and ensure accuracy in patient billing across the HealthPartners enterprise. As a Charge Master Coding Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing charge patterns, identifying current and potential coding or billing issues, reviewing and updating preference lists to ensure accuracy, providing an annual summary of coding changes, coordinating and reporting audit findings, and scheduling meetings with departments to resolve missing or misdirected charges. In addition to these responsibilities, you will serve as a resource to various departments by assisting with charging and coding questions and providing guidance to team members on workflow and process management. Other duties may include auditing charge master details for individual departments, performing spot checks for coding compliance, conducting revenue‑capture reviews, troubleshooting coding issues, completing projects to improve revenue‑cycle outcomes, and assisting the manager with training, coding, and billing research. Work Schedule/FTE: 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) working Monday-Friday daytime hours This is a remote position. Employees must reside in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota, and have a reliable internet connection and a quiet place to work free from interruptions.

Requirements

  • Degree in HIM, business administration or any medically related field and/or certified professional coder (CPC)
  • 5 years minimum hospital experience
  • 3 years’ experience in coding, billing, and/or patient accounting
  • Coding certification, such as CPC (Certified Professional Coder), or Health Information Management Certification such as RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of coding guidelines
  • Investigative ability
  • Ability to relate to many levels, such as patients, nurse auditors, and employees throughout all hospital departments.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and problem-solve.
