About the position

The Charge Entry Specialist at Jax Spine & Pain Centers is responsible for accurately collecting and entering charges for services rendered by providers, ensuring proper coding and billing processes are followed. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various departments to maintain accurate billing records and resolve any discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and enter charges for services rendered by providers in-house and outside facilities.
  • Process and review reports within the billing system to research information required for billing.
  • Audit all charges daily, verifying codes and applying appropriate billing modifiers.
  • Assist billing specialists with coding and error resolution.
  • Maintain billing records by scanning documentation and assigning documents into the EMR.
  • Ensure the billing database is current and report non-current data to the supervisor.
  • Enter all charges in a timely manner and report delays to the supervisor.
  • Participate in educational activities and review coding and billing updates.
  • Correct any errors on charges and submit charge batches daily.
  • Verify successful submission of charge batches with the Clearinghouse.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of billing experience required.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry.
  • Knowledge of medical billing, computer programs, and business office procedures required.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and basic math aptitude.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a medical office setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
