About The Position

The Charge Analyst accurately charges for hospital procedural departments, audits charges, assures the integrity of the MRN, posts charge corrections/transfers for patient accounts. Performs a variety of data collection, scheduling, cross departmental coverage and support functions within the hospital procedural areas according to established guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

  • Computer skills, including data entry.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to type/learn hospital/department computer programs.
  • Perceive details in verbal or tabular material.
  • The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in written, auditory, or visual fashion is essential.
  • The methods used to express or exchange ideas are by spoken or written word.
  • Written, telephone and manual dexterity skills are also required.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with various levels of hospital staff and other customers outside the hospital.
  • Experience: 1 year experience in hospital operations.
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: At least one year of medical office/hospital experience including knowledge of ICD-9, CPT-4, and HCPCS charging, coding, and billing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
  • Education: Associates Degree in business or related field

Responsibilities

  • Completes accurate and timely documentation based charging (within a maximum of 2 days post visit) for hospital procedural departments and has thorough knowledge of the charging functions within hospitals charging systems.
  • Verifies/reconciles charge activity in hospital patient accounting system.
  • Responsible for data collection and reporting in procedural departments used for ongoing operational evaluation of efficiency and flow.
  • Identifies any charge posting process errors.
  • Works directly with hospital clinical/operational staff to ensure integrity, accuracy and timely charging.
  • Actively participates with resolution of new process implementation, audits new charge process and provides feedback to the procedural departments.
  • Submits timely requests for new/revised CDM codes and linkage to materials management system (if applicable).
  • Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
