About The Position

The Chaplain is responsible for nurturing the spiritual well‑being of residents by providing Christ‑centered pastoral care, leading worship services, facilitating Bible studies, and creating meaningful spiritual engagement opportunities. This role supports residents through all stages of aging by promoting hope, dignity, connection, and faith, while honoring individual beliefs and spiritual journeys. The Chaplain plays an integral role in the holistic care of residents and contributes to a culture of Compassionate Christian Care throughout the campus.

Requirements

  • Ordination, commissioning, or endorsement by a Christian faith body
  • Training or experience in pastoral ministry, chaplaincy, or spiritual care
  • Strong understanding of Christian theology and pastoral practice
  • Ability to engage residents with compassion, empathy, and respect
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
  • Commitment to serving older adults in a long‑term care setting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in long‑term care, healthcare, hospice, or senior ministry
  • Experience leading group worship, Bible studies, and spiritual programs

Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Care & Pastoral Support Provide ongoing Christian spiritual care, prayer, and pastoral presence to residents
  • Offer comfort and encouragement during times of illness, transition, grief, and end‑of‑life
  • Meet individually with residents to support spiritual reflection and personal faith journeys
  • Worship & Faith Programming Plan, lead, and coordinate regular worship services
  • Facilitate Bible studies, devotional groups, and prayer gatherings
  • Conduct or coordinate memorial and remembrance services
  • Observe seasonal and special Christian observances
  • Engagement & Activities Develop and lead spiritually enriching programs, activities, and discussions
  • Encourage resident participation and engagement in faith‑based activities
  • Adapt spiritual programs to meet cognitive, physical, and emotional needs of residents
  • Collaboration & Community Partner with the interdisciplinary care team to support spiritual and emotional well-being
  • Provide spiritual support and encouragement to families and staff as appropriate
  • Model and promote the mission and values of Compassionate Christian Care
  • Documentation & Professional Standards Maintain appropriate documentation of spiritual care visits and services
  • Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional boundaries
  • Participate in meetings, care conferences, and campus events as needed
