About The Position

Otterbein located in Pemerville Ohio is seeking a Chaplain. The role of the Chaplain is to provide pastoral care and counseling for the Elders to ensure their spiritual well-being.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree and Ordained Minister
• Recognize the autonomy and dignity of all Elders.
• Communicate a sense of caring, concern, and dignity for Elders.
• Understand how to place decision-making in the hands of the Elders whenever possible and appropriate.
• Make prompt and accurate judgments with regard to resident care and emergencies.
• Work and communicate effectively as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• CPE preferred or Stephen Ministry certificate

Responsibilities

• Conducts and/or provides leadership for worship services, memorial services, communion, recitation of rosary and arranges for consistent events of a “religious” nature.
• Provides or arranges for spiritual guidance for all Residents.
• Works closely with social worker to counsel or arrange for counseling for all Elders.
• Visits hospitalized Elders.
• Encourages local church relations to be maintained as much as possible by Elders.
• Maintains contact with churches.
• Completes spiritual assessments with each Elder.
• Works closely with social worker to assist with completion of assessments and care planning.
