Serves as a member of the spiritual care service team and providing spiritual and religious care to patients, family and staff members in areas assigned in cooperation with the spiritual care manager. May participate in Hospital and Department committees and contributes to professional pastoral training for staff, community clergy and CPE students at the direction of the spiritual care manager. Works under the direction of the Spiritual Care Department Director with a primary work assignment in one or more patient care unit(s). Functions as a member of a consultative, interdisciplinary work team. Is responsible for providing spiritual/emotional support to patients/families and staff. Participates as an Interdisciplinary Care Team member in patient conferencing and interdisciplinary team meetings. Sees that assessment, service provision and documentation are in accordance with departmental policy and Unit Care Program standards. Provides bereavement support to patients and families along the continuum of their crisis and situation. Participates in continuous quality improvement projects and professional development with the Unit Care team. Provides debriefing support in times of crisis in conjunction with the Social Services Department. Mains the highest standards of conduct in hospitality, appearance, attitude, respect and teamwork. Participates in department patient care schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage. Plan, implement and conduct appropriate worship or ceremonial services.
