About The Position

Located on a 27-acre wooded campus, Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a peaceful, therapeutic environment for patients and families. Fairmount is a major regional resource for children, adolescents and adults who have psychiatric and behavioral problems as well as alcohol and drug dependency needs. The spacious campus borders Fairmount Park in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. With one of the leading alcohol and drug detox and rehab programs in Philadelphia, Fairmount is the provider of choice for individuals requiring specialized co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. We are currently seeking a Spiritual Support Specialist to join our team. The Spiritual Support Specialist are trained mental health professionals that provides, both, psychological therapy and spiritual guidance to individuals with behavioral/mental health illnesses and chemical dependency disorders. Primary responsibilities include providing quality care to individuals, counseling on spiritual issues, provide ongoing support, teach, and promote self-advocacy, and provides direct spiritual care to patients in accordance with the treatment team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in an area of human services, which includes, but may not be limited to the following: psychology, sociology, political science, counseling, criminal justice, pastoral counseling, elementary/special education, or family therapy.
  • A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent, plus a minimum of 2 years of experience (paid or unpaid) in a human service field. This experience must involve direct contact with the individual receiving services (i.e., coaching, teaching, case management, etc.).
  • Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationship processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors.
