The chaplain maintains a professional relationship with hospital personnel, leads support and educational events in the hospital, and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate, based on the level of patient contact this position requires. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Clinical Pastoral Education (1 unit preferred on hire; expectation to complete 1 unit within 12 months of hire if not already complete on hire). Those already hired without CPE unit have 18 months to complete 1 unit.
  • Board certification (or eligible for certification) by Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP). If not Board Certified at time of hire, must complete Board Certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Endorsement by a recognized faith community and ordination by a recognized faith community

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years' experience in hospital setting
  • Master's of Divinity from a seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools preferred or a similarly credentialed accrediting agency, or its equivalent as determined by the Association of Professional Chaplains preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Visits newly admitted patients and their families to offer support, spiritual assistance and assess the need for return visits
  • Responds to all calls for chaplaincy services including crisis calls, requests for patients and families and referrals from hospital staff
  • Serves as a group leader for support groups designed to help persons cope with traumatic events in their lives
  • Leads education and training events; and teaches in the clinical pastoral education program
  • Coordinates the visits of chaplain residents, CPE students and Pastoral Care Volunteers
  • Writes bereavement letters for families who have experienced the death of a family member
  • Supervises the planning and implementation of worship for special services in the hospital
  • Represents INTEGRIS Health at denominational and community meetings
