Hospice of Wichita Falls is actively seeking a Chaplain to join our In Patient Center. We provide Care, Hope, and Support for All When Illness Threatens Life for our patients and families. About Hospice of Wichita Falls For over 40 years, Hospice of Wichita Falls has been the only non-profit community-based hospice in the area, providing services in 12 North Texas counties. Our wonderful nursing staff meets our patients and families where they are, private homes, nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and our free standing 24 bed inpatient center. It is our goal to provide premier care while honoring and upholding the patient's wishes whenever possible. Your life as a Chaplain Your role is very important to our patients and organization. We will rely on you to ensure that we support our staff in making sure that with patient/family permission spiritual needs are met. We work as a team so there will be a need to interact with other members of our team to provide collaboration with the Support Services Coordinator and Interdiciplinary Team in development and revision of the plan of care. You will be part of an on-call rotation for after-hours support. Our schedules are generally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday. This position will share time half time in Homecare and half time in the Center.

Requirements

  • Understand the Hospice concept and philosophy of care.
  • Ability to guide and assist patients and families as well as team members in spiritual and/or general counseling situations.
  • Demonstrates ability to be open, sensitive, flexible when working in a nondenominational environment.
  • Ability to be compassionate and communicate effectively, utilizing appropriate listening skills.
  • Ability to facilitate individual and group counseling.
  • Ability to conduct educational seminars and training for civic, church, volunteer and professional groups.
  • Understand the complexities of theological and spiritual issues of hospice care, death, dying and grief.
  • Ability to understand the physical psychosocial and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and families.
  • Ability to relate well with patients, families, community at large and health care professionals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to be at work as scheduled and alert/awake.
  • Demonstrates competency as defined.
  • Ability to advance in computer knowledge
  • Demonstrates the ability to problem solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform productively in a demanding environment.

Responsibilities
