DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Provides pastoral/spiritual care to patients, families, visitors and staff. Responsible for crisis ministry/intervention, bereavement services, and sacramental needs of patients. SUPERVISION : Reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Is knowledgeable of and actively participates with implementation of policies and guidelines in the department. Actively participates in the department/hospital cost saving and productivity initiatives. Attends required departmental meetings. Complies with departmental infection prevention and control policies. Dress and general appearance meets department policy. Protects patient information and maintains confidentiality. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Master of Divinity from an accredited seminary. One year pastoral experience. Basic computer skills. 4 units of Residency in an approved course of Clinical Pastoral Education; Maintains required number of continuing education units as defined by denomination. Ability to read, write, and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and other medical personnel. Ability to lead and coordinate prayer. Requires emotional stability and resilience; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive and demonstrate foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Physical Demands/Work Environment Work may require a variety of physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
