About The Position

The Chaplain Resident is a student who is enrolled in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program offered through MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital. The Chaplain Resident participates as a peer to the CPE Chaplain Interns and develops his/her pastoral care skills under the supervision of the ACPE Supervisor/Program Coordinator. He/she practices compassionate and effective spiritual support to patients, families, and staff members to address needs resulting from the impact of illness or injury. The Resident relates to the Chaplain Services team and to multidisciplinary teams as a practicum student and assists in addressing the spiritual/religious needs of patients and families while under supervision. The Resident also adequately pursues the objectives of MHS Chaplain Services and of the CPE program as described in the Standards of The Association for Clinical Pastoral Education. Completion of satisfactory admissions materials and screening interview is required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in theology, ministry, pastoral studies, or related human services field.
• 1 Unit ACPE CPE Endorsement by faith group for hospital chaplaincy.
• Sufficient ministry experience or its equivalency to demonstrate ministry readiness.
