About The Position

The Chaplain position at Hill Crest Behavioral Health is a part-time role focused on providing spiritual support and pastoral counseling to patients in an acute care psychiatric facility. The Chaplain leads interdenominational worship services and conducts group, individual, and family counseling, helping patients integrate their mental health challenges with their religious beliefs. This role is integral to the multidisciplinary treatment team, ensuring that spiritual care is aligned with the overall treatment plan for patients.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Pastoral Counseling or a closely related discipline.
  • Certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Certified Counseling Associate in Alabama.
  • Experience in an inpatient psychiatric unit is required.
  • Knowledge of normal growth and development of the population served, including adolescents and senior adults.
  • Ability to establish rapport with patients of all backgrounds and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in leading interdenominational worship services.
  • Familiarity with documentation and clinical supervision processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead interdenominational worship services for hospital patients.
  • Conduct group, individual, and family pastoral counseling as assigned.
  • Serve as a liaison to individual patient's clergy to improve continuity of care.
  • Participate as an integral member of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide spiritual support to patients and family members consistent with traditional chaplain roles.
  • Document clinical supervision and treatment plan documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Nurse Manager and Treatment Team in addressing patients' cultural and spiritual concerns.
  • Obtain group and worship leadership coverage when away from the hospital.
