About The Position

The Chaplain position at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital - Mt. Vernon is a PRN role focused on responding to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, family members, and fellow employees. The position requires participation in a multidisciplinary care team and involves flexible shifts, primarily Monday through Friday, with an expected availability of 16-20 hours per week. The chaplain will also be on call occasionally and is expected to commit to memorial services and Holy Week liturgy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and one CPE unit required.
• One year experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Meets the spiritual and emotional needs of patients/families through timely assessment, intervention, and communication.
• Collaborates with co-workers to accomplish departmental goals and offers assistance to balance workload.
• Responds to physician referrals on the same day they are received to contribute to the satisfaction of the medical staff.
• Reports all safety/security risks to contribute to a safe environment.
• Intervenes in crisis situations to provide support for patients, families, and co-workers.
• Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the overall financial performance of the department.
• Covers on call shifts as assigned.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
