About The Position

The staff chaplain demonstrates a non-judgmental, non-anxious approach to patients, families, caregivers and staff in regard to their psychosocial, living and/or family situations, or life styles. Ability to establish effective professional and personal boundaries. Ability to accurately assess patient/ family spiritual needs in all aspects of care and respect individuality and differences. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Interdisciplinary Teams regarding patient/family psychosocial needs, goals, and interventions. Must be flexible to conduct public Honor Red White and Blue ceremonies, chapel services and special events after hours and on weekends and holidays. Ability to facilitate support groups. Awareness of compassion fatigue. Ability to maintain positive mental awareness. Demonstrates adherence to the 'Common Code of Ethics for Chaplains, Pastoral Counselors, Pastoral Educators and Students'.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies/Social Sciences from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 4 units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education), 2 of which must have been in a hospital setting.
  • One year of experience working with patients and families dealing with illness, death, and trauma situations.
  • Strong computer skills with experience documenting in EPIC preferred.
  • Board Certified or eligible for board certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), the Spiritual Care Association (SCA) or other cognate group, obtaining certification within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Divinity Degree from an ATS accredited theological school with endorsement or ordination from a recognized faith group preferred.
  • Master of Pastoral Studies, Master of Theology, or Master of Theological Studies accepted.
