About The Position

Chaplains are the frontline staff fulfilling the mission and Christian ministry of MCHAP. Chaplains use their gifts and talents to serve company employees and their immediate families. This position is part-time, likely requiring 2 to 4 hours each week, and involves making brief visits to company worksites regularly to interact with employees and build relationships motivated by the Chaplain’s deep Christian faith. The role includes providing confidential pastoral discussions, assisting in planning and conducting funerals, and offering support during various life challenges.

Requirements

  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary group and in an interfaith setting.
  • Skills to effectively listen and interact with clients, employees, and their families.
  • Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle and to MCHAP's Ministry values.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in analyzing information to define and follow up on problems or objectives.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or other equivalent software.
  • Must have active state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance.

  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose.
  • Interacts with companies, their employees, and the community in a manner that exhibits character through personal and spiritual disciplines.
  • Makes brief visits to company worksites regularly to interact with employees.
  • Visits employees or immediate family members wherever care can be expressed.
  • Provides confidential pastoral discussions for problem issues of employees and their immediate family members.
  • Provides referral service and acts as coordinator for specialized assistance.
  • May assist in the planning, conduct or attend funerals for employees or immediate family members.
  • Works with companies to serve notifications of death and serious injuries to families.
  • May provide post-termination care for laid-off or terminated employees.
  • Facilitates spiritual enrichment activities as appropriate.
  • Participates in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service.
