Pastoral Care management will partner with Chaplains on their certifications (both associate and board level) with the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). Enjoy opportunities for growth. Here’s What You Need Education: Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of experience in ministerial or congregational care in lieu of a bachelor’s degree REQUIRED Master of Divinity, Theology, or related degree from an accredited theological school preferred. Experience: 1 unit of CPE from an ACPE Accredited Center preferred 2 years’ experience in a congregational or hospital setting preferred. Skills: Good communication skills, both written and oral. Competency in basic computer use and electronic communication tools, e.g., email, calendar. Ability to work with and relate to people of all faith traditions and cultural backgrounds. Ability to offer non-anxious presence and work with people during a time of crisis and bereavement, offering compassionate care. Proficiently document patient care in the medical record within one year of employment and demonstrate this proficiency. Ability to offer religious and spiritual rituals as requested by patients and/or staff. When appropriate, ability to refer to outside clergy to meet patient sacramental or religious rites needs. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that supports various entities/locations based upon patient volumes and operational needs. What You Will Do Position Responsibilities: The Chaplain role is designed to support Texas Health departments of Pastoral Care to provide 24/7 support to patients, guests, and staff. Patient care: Provide professional pastoral and spiritual care to patients and their loved ones, using excellent listening, observational, assessment, and interventional skills. Assess patient and family spiritual resources and vulnerabilities, offering corresponding interventions. Document care in electronic medical record, using Pastoral Care standardized processes. Ability to respond to calls within 10 minutes and arrive within 30 minutes. Provide on-call report when called into the hospital. Support Pastoral Care Department: Report payroll exceptions promptly. Participate in Pastoral Care staff meetings. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all Pastoral Care Department policies and procedures. Complete required Pastoral Care Department training and any MyTalent modules when assigned. When providing in-house coverage, participate in the ritual life of the hospital, e.g., FINAL SALUTEs, memorial services, award ceremonies, and other similar celebrations and special events within the hospital.
