Ambulatory Health Care Services

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this role is also responsible for initiating collaboration and communication with other departments within the hospital and clinics (e.g., Employee Wellness, Employee Assistance Program) to support institutional staff; providing advanced, in-depth spiritual counseling to staff in medical specialty departments (e.g., Emergency Room, Behavioral Health); identifying and recommending trainings to complete specific to institution needs; anticipating and recommending disaster response services and emergency management, including urgent, rapid responses during crisis situations (e.g., Team Lavender); managing collaborations with internal and external entities to provide and facilitate organizational well-being activities (e.g., tea for the soul, healing music); and serving as a key representative of Spiritual Care Services in hospital-based committees (e.g., ethics).

  • Leads patient, loved ones, and staff counseling services by mentoring others on diverse spiritual care assessment models and ensuring they are effectively used.
  • Leads spiritual care services by teaching others about cultural sensitivity when interacting with patients, their families and loved ones, and team members.
  • Masters degree in Divinity, Theology or related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum four (4) years of pastoral care experience in a Hospital, Clinic, or Hospice setting.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
