About The Position

Hospice of New Mexico is seeking a Full Time Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families navigating end-of-life moments. This role is for a compassionate Chaplain, Spiritual Counselor, or Spiritual Caregiver who is passionate about helping others find peace, connection, and purpose within a supportive, mission-driven team. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, covering the Albuquerque area. As a key member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), the Hospice Chaplain offers spiritual care, grief support, and emotional guidance to patients, families, and caregivers, respecting all faiths, traditions, and beliefs. The position is integral to a holistic approach to end-of-life care, ensuring comfort, dignity, and compassionate presence for every individual. Requirements

  • Comfortable working in interfaith settings and able to accept diverse beliefs.
  • Must have the ability to handle stress associated with ministering to patients/residents and their loved ones who experience pain, suffering, death, and grief.
  • Must be computer proficient in typing and various programs, including a background in EMR.
  • Current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to dependable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv, or equivalent theological degree), or appropriate certification in pastoral ministry.
  • Minimum of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
  • Experience providing spiritual care in a hospice, hospital, or community health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and address the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families as part of the interdisciplinary care plan.
  • Provide spiritual counseling, comfort, and guidance for individuals and families of all faiths and belief systems.
  • Offer grief and bereavement support throughout the hospice journey and following loss.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and care team to coordinate spiritual care and ensure holistic, compassionate support.
  • Communicate effectively with hospice staff and community partners to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and agency policies.
