About The Position

The Chaplain (Clinical Pastoral Educator) at the Department of Veterans Affairs provides senior-level clinical assignments, offering comprehensive religious, spiritual, and pastoral care to Veterans, caregivers, and staff. This role integrates pastoral care into all aspects of patient care, ensuring that spiritual needs are addressed in a holistic manner. The incumbent also manages the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Center, develops educational curricula, and provides training to CPE students, while collaborating with interdisciplinary treatment teams to enhance the overall care provided to Veterans.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Master of Divinity degree or equivalent educational qualifications from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an accredited center.
  • Possession of a full and active ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized authority.
  • Board Certified Chaplain certification from a recognized body.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience overseeing an Educator in Training.
  • Experience providing education within a Federal setting.
  • National Faculty ACPE.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive religious ministry services and training to Veteran patients and students.
  • Manage daily operations of the CPE Center and develop program policies and procedures.
  • Conduct recruitment and interviews for CPE students and ensure compliance with documentation.
  • Develop educational curricula that are measurable, outcome-oriented, and evidence-based.
  • Provide pastoral counseling to patients facing complex ethical, moral, and spiritual issues.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the CPE program and implement necessary modifications.
  • Serve as a primary senior Chaplain education resource and spiritual advisor for Veterans and staff.
  • Conduct comprehensive religious services and administer Chaplain services.
