About The Position
LanguageLine Solutions is seeking a dedicated and skilled Chamorro-English Phone Interpreter to join our team. This remote position allows you to utilize your language skills to bridge communication gaps for limited-English speakers, as well as the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community. As an interpreter, you will handle calls on demand, rendering the meaning of conversations between Chamorro and English speakers across various industries, including healthcare, government, insurance, and law enforcement. You will be trained in the best practices of the industry, ensuring that you are well-equipped to handle both simple and complex interpreting sessions. Our interpreters are supported by a Senior Language Specialist and have access to Interpreter and Technology Help Desks, ensuring you have the resources needed to succeed in your role. In this position, you will be responsible for responding promptly to interpreting sessions, maintaining professionalism, and adhering to established interpretation protocols. You will need to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the nuances of both languages, ensuring accurate and respectful communication. The role requires excellent listening and retention skills, as well as the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations, such as emergency calls. You will also be expected to maintain punctuality and availability during your scheduled work hours, following client instructions to meet the expectations of Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals.
