About The Position

The Challenge Course Director is responsible for overseeing, leading, planning and implementing the Challenge Course department. The Challenge Course Director supervises 6-10 Challenge Course Instructors as well as leads challenge course activities for campers in large and small group settings. Requirements

  • 20 years of age or older.
  • Ability to lead and instruct a group of staff and campers in the Challenge Course program.
  • Knowledge in safety, care of equipment, inventory, skill instruction, and progressive age-appropriate programming.
  • Be able to identify the age and grade level characteristics of campers.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous camp experience or experience working with groups of children is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Challenge Course Instructors.
  • Provide instruction, supervision, and safety of all campers in the program area and cabins.
  • Observer Challenge Course Instructors’ classes and provide constructive feedback.
  • Approve all lesson plans and curriculum for challenge course activities and confirm they are age-appropriate and meet the standards.
  • Provide instruction, supervision, and safety of all campers and staff in the program area.
  • Submit written performance evaluations of staff twice a summer.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and resources are available.
  • Assist campers with achieving their SMART goals.
  • Assist with running evening programs and special events.
  • Assist with Trading Post.
  • Assist with tractor rides.
  • Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day which includes but is not limited to; camper check-in and check-out; mealtimes; activities; and before/after-hours duties as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in Ad Staff and All Staff Training
