About The Position

Assure all needs are met relating to the provision of patient care in the Faculty Practice clinic. Assist doctors with set up and rendering of various treatment procedures. Provide patients with quality care and treatment in a manner that is comfortable for the patient. Manage equipment and inventory.

Requirements

  • Education - A high school diploma or GED.
  • Employment - Up to six months (Equivalent combination of education and employment).
  • Current knowledge of dental terminology, dental instruments and materials.
  • State of Michigan Radiology Certification or comparable, BLS Certificate.
  • Must be dependable, flexible, and open to changes in this unpredictable environment as well as have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage responsibilities in a busy environment.
  • A qualified individual will have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a diverse team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Competent assisting in complex dental procedures utilizing four-handed technique.
  • Competent computer skills using a PC and EHR.
  • Glucometer trained is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dental assisting duties as they relate to each specific clinical procedure as needed. This includes chair-side assisting, following infection control procedures.
  • Set up and breakdown of operatory. Perform light housekeeping and maintaining operatory cleanliness.
  • To develop, oversee and maintain an efficient control log for routine maintenance such as: suction lines, suction traps, suction filters, oxygen tanks, water bottles and filters, and ultrasonic tank.
  • Ensure that all materials and supplies are readily available and stocked at all times. Maintain order lists for instruments, materials, supplies regularly.
  • Maintenance of all instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain clinic laboratory, including organization and management of lab cases.
  • Assist front desk as needed. Includes but not limited to making appointments, answering multi-line telephone, patient check-out and collecting payments using CashNet.
  • Expose, process and mount digital radiographs.
  • Perio charting and documenting as necessary using the electronic health record.
  • Educating patients, maintaining records and performing other related duties as assigned or requested.
