About The Position

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a new Chair for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This position is a unique opportunity to lead a department renowned as 'the birthplace of psycho-oncology.' The Chair will report directly to Dr. Lisa DeAngelis, Chief Physician Executive, and Shelly Anderson, Hospital President, and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department. This includes driving the department's strategy to advance its clinical, research, and educational missions in a complex and fast-paced environment. The new Chair will have the opportunity to build upon a rich legacy and continue to define the future of psychiatric, psychological, and psychosocial aspects of cancer care. This role requires the Chair to hone and articulate a clear mission and vision for the department over the next three to five years. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished physician leader with an MD or MD/PhD, possessing a strong reputation in psychiatric clinical service, research, and education. The Chair will also have significant experience in research, training, and clinical achievement, which is necessary for appointment to the faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. Relocation to the New York City area is required for this role, and the Chair will occasionally need to visit MSK's regional network sites located in Manhattan, Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey. This position offers a competitive salary range of $700,000 to $750,000, based on various factors, and does not include supplemental performance-based pay or one-time payments that may be offered at the time of hire.
