About The Position

Hartford HealthCare's Ayer Neuroscience Institute seeks a visionary fellowship-trained neurologist to be Chair of the Department of Neurology & Stroke Director role at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT. The Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Hartford HealthCare is a rapidly growing entity with a focus on comprehensive patient care, academics, research, and training. Requirements

  • Medical Degree from an accredited University.
  • Candidate must be board certified or board eligible.
  • 5 years of clinical experience.
  • CT license or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut.
  • A strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, performance-driven health system.
  • Ability to respectfully collaborate and build relationships with a diverse set of teammates.
  • Ability to thrive in a constantly evolving environment, challenging the status quo and striving to innovate and improve care delivery.
  • Excellent communication, bedside manner, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of department strategic planning, growth, and operations focusing on quality neurological care at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of departmental clinical and educational activities, in accordance with the facility's mission and vision.
  • Supervise all professional activities and clinical staff within the Department and within subspecialty divisions of the Department.
  • Lead staff including appointing departmental members to committees, establishing and coordinating faculty and staff development, periodically evaluating faculty and staff as well as all faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions according to Medical Staff By-Laws.
  • Ensure professional performance of all practitioners with clinical privileges in the Department.
  • Collaborate with administrative and nursing leadership to build a team-based clinical environment.
  • Develop hospital focused quality metrics.
  • Outreach to EMS services.
  • Promote and support academic teaching and clinical research opportunities.
  • Champion the delivery of advanced stroke care and treatment options for patients.
  • Oversee and participate in evaluating, maintaining, and improving performance processes and metrics required for comprehensive stroke center status.
  • Collaborate with neurology, neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, nursing, and other disciplines to lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and supervise the education and mentoring of faculty, residents, and students.
