As we collaborate with DC Studios/ Warner Bros Pictures Animation and Matt Reeves’ 6th and Idaho on a revolutionary new project, you’ll help bring bold creative visions to life through hands-on artistry and performance. This is your chance to be a part of a production that’s equal parts innovative and unforgettable. Job Summary: Swaybox Studios is looking for a Character Rigging TD to join our creative team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both face and body character rigging and a solid understanding of facial animation techniques for film. You will be responsible for creating robust body and face rigs that allow for expressive and realistic facial expressions and body movements, contributing significantly to character performances. Requirements

  • Proven experience as a rigging TD, with a strong portfolio showcasing body rigging work.
  • Strong proficiency in Maya, with a solid understanding of rigging tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Python or MEL scripting for automation and tool development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt rigs to meet changing production needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset and willingness to iterate based on feedback from supervisors and directors.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with animation principles and experience as an animator.
  • Understanding of muscle and skin simulation techniques.
  • Familiarity with character modeling processes.

Responsibilities

  • Implement or create a body rigging system to build, test, and maintain rigs for a variety of characters, ensuring a high level of quality and flexibility with consistent rig designs.
  • Adopt processes used by Lead Facial TD to assist in the creation of facial rigs.
  • Collaborate with animators and character designers to address specific animation requirements and achieve desired results.
  • Develop necessary tools, plug-ins, controllers and interfaces to optimise animation.
  • Ensure that the assets delivered are properly integrated and that the final result (rigging/skinning) complies with the project’s artistic standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve rigging issues throughout the production process, providing support to animators.
  • Document rigging processes and create user-friendly guides for animators to ensure effective use of the rigs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and techniques related to character rigging.
