About The Position

Behind every successful corporate and foundation partnership is data that’s clear, accurate, and actionable. We’re looking for a CFR Data Specialist who can turn complex information into momentum for high-impact fundraising, where your attention to detail and collaborative mindset will directly support strategic fundraising efforts across campus. In this role, you’ll strengthen the quality and reliability of CFR data in Salesforce | ascend—evaluating accuracy, identifying gaps, and guiding partners toward best practices. You’ll serve as a key connector between CFR leadership, campus partners, and Operations, keeping workflows moving and ensuring critical information is complete, timely, and actionable. POSITION SUMMARY The Corporate & Foundation Relations (CFR) Data Specialist strengthens the quality, structure, and coordination of CFR-related data within Salesforce | ascend. This position evaluates the completeness and accuracy of data, identifies gaps or inconsistencies, and recommends appropriate solutions. It also serves as a key liaison, prompting action and facilitating workflow for the CFR program between campus partners and the Operations department. In addition to evaluation and coordination responsibilities, the role supports the Associate VP of Corporate & Foundations Relations and Operations through careful data preparation, coding, and record completion. Through a balance of insight, collaboration, and attention to detail, the CFR Data Specialist enhances the reliability of CFR information and improves cross-departmental efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant professional experience may substitute.
  • Experience with data, CRM systems, spreadsheets, or operations workflows.
  • Ability to operate computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to focus, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, or lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail at all times.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, especially when gathering and clarifying data needs.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; comfort learning new systems.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify gaps and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and proactively.
  • Resourcefulness and initiative in coordinating across teams.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Adaptability and willingness to support shared Operations responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nonprofit advancement or higher education is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce | ascend is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Assess incoming CFR information for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with institutional data standards.
  • Identify missing, conflicting, or unclear information and recommend appropriate next steps.
  • Advise CFR staff and campus partners on structuring organization, foundation, and relationship data to support strategic fundraising goals.
  • Serve as a resource on CFR data practices, helping staff understand requirements for high-quality data submissions.
  • Determine when new records should be created and when existing records need updates based on evaluation of CRM data.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Associate VP of Corporate & Foundations Relations, campus partners, and Operations to maintain momentum within data workflows.
  • Proactively request information needed to complete CFR data submissions.
  • Coordinate brief data workflow check-ins or follow-up communications to ensure tasks stay on track.
  • Promote improved CFR data processes, tools, and submission standards across internal teams.
  • Communicate CFR needs clearly and translate them into actionable requests for Operations.
  • Prepare and validate CFR-related data—including organizations, contacts, relationships, and funding focus areas—for accurate entry into Salesforce | ascend.
  • Conduct CRM searches to assess existing records, prevent duplication, and confirm proper data mapping.
  • Submit complete and clearly documented data updates or creation requests to Operations following established protocols.
  • Support general Operations data coding tasks as needed, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and follow institutional data governance rules when handling sensitive information.
  • Evaluate existing CFR data workflows and recommend improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and clarity.
  • Collaborate with Operations colleagues to refine documentation, standards, and data processes related to CFR.
  • Assist Associate VP of Corporate & Foundations Relationships and Operations leadership with projects requiring evaluation, coordination, or data preparation.
  • Participate in ongoing training related to CFR strategy, data governance, and Salesforce | ascend functionality.
