About The Position

The CFO/Controller position at JA Edwards of America, Inc. is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial activities within the company, particularly in the construction sector. The successful candidate will prepare and analyze financial statements, manage cash flow, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to mentor accounting staff while providing financial insights to management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA required.
  • Proven experience as a Controller for a construction company or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial report writing, working with Procore, regulatory reporting, governmental accounting, public accounting, technical accounting, general ledger reconciliation, cash management, account analysis, and general ledger accounting.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and supporting financial information.
  • Prepare daily journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and management reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare variance analysis to budget and forecast.
  • Support in compilation of annual and periodic budget information.
  • Process employee expense reports.
  • Assist in meeting Tax Compliance including Annual Corporate Tax Filings.
  • Complete monthly cash flow analysis.
  • Perform daily routines and month-end procedures.
  • Manage the accounting for inventory, accounts receivable, and payables.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
  • Handle construction accounting, costs, progress billing, AIA invoicing, draws, revenue recognition, lien releases, notice to owners, change orders, and job costing.
  • Manage licenses, registrations, certifications, insurances, and contracts.
  • Prepare credit applications, maintain account list and account files.
  • Oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and financial reporting for construction projects and company-wide operations.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor project costs, analyze variances, and provide timely financial insights to project managers and senior management.
  • Lead the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and present findings to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support ongoing operations and project needs.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and other financial stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
