About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Certifying Scientist to join its team in Houston, TX. This position will be working in the Toxicology department which performs drug monitoring testing. The Certifying Scientist will be responsible for reviewing and verifying all data to ensure its accuracy before the final results get reported. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field or equivalent education and experience
  • 2 years of pertinent laboratory experience is required
  • Must be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Work effectively in fast paced high volume environment
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a Chemical or Biological Science is a plus
  • Certifying Scientist and Toxicology experience is preferred
  • Prior chromatography and/or mass spectrometry experience is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Excellent research and problem resolution skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform GC/MS and LC/MS certification in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and supervisor guidance.
  • Review and interpret all data from screening, SVTs and confirmatory GC/MS and LC/MS chromatographic data and all associated quality control, calibration and instrument data.
  • Understand and follow quality procedures and protocols for security and confidentiality.
  • Review and follow chain of custody procedures with accuracy and consistency.
  • Verify accuracy of all chain of custody and specimen documentation and sign where necessary.
  • Release all results for: Negative specimens Negative and Dilute Rejected Specimens Positive Drugs Invalid Adulterated Substituted Positive and Dilute Retests Quantitative Results D & L methamphetamine results
  • Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures and protocols as directed.
  • Understand and comply with all laboratory and safety policies.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
