About The Position

The Certified Wellness Coach II is responsible for providing non-clinical services that support youth behavioral health and well-being, such as wellness promotion and education, screening, care coordination, individual and group support, and crisis referral. Under the supervision of the assigned Program or Clinical Supervisor, the role involves facilitating health education related to behavioral health, connecting students to resources, and delivering wellness education on various topics. The position also includes supporting students in goal setting, instructing on essential life skills, and recognizing potential risks to refer to on-site behavioral health providers.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Addiction Studies, Child Development/Early Intervention, Psychology or Sociology from an accredited California Community College.
  • Minimum of one year of related work or field experience in mental health, substance use/addiction, social work, child welfare, or related fields.
  • Current California Certified Wellness Coach Certification.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the English language.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid California driver's license and personal automobile insurance.
  • Physically and mentally fit according to the Agency's Policy.
  • Willingness to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test and drug screening test.
  • Willingness to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
  • Obtain First Aid Certification and CPR Certification if required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and group support for students with behavioral health concerns.
  • Facilitates promotion and prevention program services, including health education related to behavioral health.
  • Connects students to behavioral health support resources such as outpatient therapy and support groups.
  • Delivers wellness education on topics such as behavioral health symptoms, nutrition, and exercise.
  • Supports students in setting and planning goals related to physical activity and sleep habits.
  • Instructs on essential life skills such as stress management and problem-solving.
  • Provides guidance on coping skills for youth.
  • Facilitates small group sessions aimed at improving wellness and life skills.
  • Recognizes and identifies potential risks and refers to on-site behavioral health providers.
  • Documents activities related to all services provided and submits within designated timelines.
