About The Position

The Certified Welding Inspector position at Bureau Veritas involves overseeing the quality assurance of fabrication facilities on behalf of clients, as well as conducting on-site inspections during the construction phase. The role requires significant knowledge of American Welding Society (AWS) codes and demonstrable experience in a similar position. The inspector will communicate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that services are performed according to project requirements and client contracts. Responsibilities include generating and processing timesheets, billing reports, and inspection reports, maintaining positive relationships with clients and fabrication facilities, and working remotely from established Bureau Veritas offices.

Requirements

  • Certified Welding Inspector (American Welding Society) or CWB acceptable.
  • Significant knowledge of American Welding Society (AWS) codes.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to understand and read complex design and fabrication plans and specifications.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required; knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Lotus Notes preferred.
  • Proficient use of modern communication and computer equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • NDT Level II certification is a plus.
  • AMPP/NACE Level II certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the fabrication facility's quality assurance on behalf of Bureau Veritas's client.
  • Conduct on-site inspections during the construction phase.
  • Communicate with the Project Manager to determine specific requirements of work orders, including scope, deliverables, schedule, and budget.
  • Resolve schedule issues with fabrication shops, contractors, and other third parties.
  • Ensure services are performed in accordance with project requirements and client contracts.
  • Generate and process timesheets, billing reports, and inspection reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicate information regarding upcoming assignments and potential work to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain positive relationships between Bureau Veritas, the fabrication facility, and the client.
