About The Position

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) supports welding quality, fabrication accuracy, and continuous improvement across Kloeckner’s advanced manufacturing operations. This role performs inspections, conducts NDT, trains fabrication technicians, and collaborates with engineering and production teams to ensure high-quality fabricated components.

Requirements

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Experience in fabrication, welding inspection, or heavy industrial manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW)
  • Ability to perform MT and UT Level II inspections
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to train and mentor technicians

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with large-scale or OEM-related fabrication projects
  • Familiarity with Kloeckner Metals’ fabrication capabilities (cutting, forming, welding, machining, assembly)
  • Experience with ISO-based quality systems
  • Background in quality assurance or welding procedure oversight
  • Exposure to digital or automated fabrication systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections on welded and fabricated components produced through processes such as laser cutting, plasma cutting, plate rolling, press braking, machining, welding, and assembly.
  • Conduct NDT examinations (MT, UT Level II) on a variety of metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and alloy materials used in Kloeckner facilities.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and micrometers to validate dimensional accuracy and weld quality.
  • Ensure proper assembly and alignment of fabricated components and equipment.
  • Train and mentor welding/fabrication technicians on proper welding procedures and inspection standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Kloeckner welding procedures, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Communicate with customers regarding quality results, progress updates, and scope adjustments.
  • Work closely with engineering and fabrication managers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare accurate inspection reports, NDT documentation, and project records.
  • Create presentations and reports using Adobe Pro (training available).
  • Maintain quality logs and documentation aligned with Kloeckner’s supply chain visibility and traceability standards.
  • Maintain clean and safe inspection areas.
  • Follow site safety standards; ability to work in confined spaces when required.
