About The Position

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is a key role, responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welded structures by conducting inspections, verifying compliance with industry standards and project specifications, and collaborating with engineering teams to uphold welding best practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Licensed Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
• Minimum of 2-5 years of NDT experience
• Strong understanding of material properties, defects, and testing standards
• Level 2 NDT certification with ASNT
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and basic computer literacy
• Knowledge of various welding techniques, equipment, and safety protocols
• Adaptability and flexibility to changing schedules and hours to support business needs
• Strong time management, mathematics, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct welding inspections at job sites in a timely fashion and submit accurate reports in accordance to the established standards (ASNT, ASTM, AWS, etc.)
• Conduct NDT testing using one or more NDT methods, such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Thermography Testing Level 2, Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Visual testing (VT)
• Assist in developing and maintaining inspection procedures
• Study and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and manuals to understand project requirements
• Operate and maintain a motor vehicle, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
• Partner with fabricators, engineers, and supervisors to ensure project quality and completion per specifications
• Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to protect oneself and others in the work environment
• Other duties may be assigned
