About The Position

The Quality Engineer will coordinate with divisional departments regarding quality issues and procedure, respond to and track corrective action responses, investigate and resolve root causes of customer claims, communicate with mills, and participate in selection of supplies and customers. The Quality Engineer will also perform quality audits, develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions and maintain system document, conduct capability studies, perform gage studies, manage inspection equipment of calibration activities and manage special projects, and complete First Article/PPAP submissions. Additionally, this role is responsible for inspecting weld, reviewing procedures, documenting results, and working closely with welders, engineers, and project management to maintain high quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Formal Lean training (Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, etc.) required
  • 2+ years in a similar role within the manufacturing industry; steel experience strongly preferred
  • Create SOP and Work Instructions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with an ability to facilitate trainings and develop documentations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (notably Excel) and ERP systems
  • Strong organizing, planning and multitasking skills
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and IATF 16949
  • Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (required)
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding symbols and technical drawings
  • Experience with stainless steel piping required.
  • Lasers, press brakes, machining centers, plasma and welding experience preferred
  • Experience in materials control (flow of material and parts in and out of the plant), production control (efficient production process) and quality control preferred

  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt a plus
