What We Offer This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. Depending on the staffing needs of the recreation center or outdoor pool they are assigned to, on‐call positions may have a routine or variable work schedule and will work no more than 39 hours per week. Certified Fitness Instructors are paid $22.62/hour. On-call positions are eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. Location Our hiring efforts are primarily focused on staffing year-round indoor pool programming. What You’ll Do Certified Water Fitness Instructors provide training and instruction in aquatics group fitness classes at various recreation centers throughout the City and County of Denver. Instructors are expected to provide a safe, educational, and enjoyable experience for all class participants. This position is a great opportunity for those who enjoy aquatics and are looking to engage with Denver's community members. Certified Water Fitness Instructors are paid $22.62/hour. As a Certified Water Fitness Instructors, you will:

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement.
  • Certification as an instructor and/or trainer in yoga, step aerobics, kick boxing, boot camp, hip-hop, interval training, sports performance, strength training, Pilates, Zumba, indoor cycling, core conditioning or any fitness area by a nationally recognized organization.
  • Requires certification in CPR/First Aid at the time of application or within six months hire date.
  • Licensure and certification must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Instructing water fitness classes of roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour in duration per class at one or more Denver recreation center pools
  • Creating enthusiastic and energetic class environments while providing specific emphasis on safety and proper execution of movements
  • Keeping current on all certifications and industry practices
  • Maintaining attendance records for classes; distributing and collecting class evaluations as requested
  • Answering participant questions and resolving issues, problems, and conflicts
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area
  • Completing lesson plans
