About The Position

The Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (CVRC) is responsible for developing and administering Individualized Plans for Employment (IPEs) and providing counseling, training, and placement services for eligible individuals. This role involves monitoring consumer progress, determining eligibility for services, and maintaining case management records while adhering to state and federal laws and agency policies. The CVRC also serves as a mentor to non-certified staff and collaborates with various community resources to enhance service delivery.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or counselor education.
  • Two years of experience in counseling or a related field.
  • Licensure as a Professional Counselor or certification as a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor consumer progress toward job placement and retention, contacting them at least every 90 days.
  • Complete 20 new intake/applications each year, explaining services and conducting assessments.
  • Determine eligibility for VR services within 60 days of application.
  • Provide counseling and guidance to consumers.
  • Document case management activities accurately in the case management system.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records in compliance with agency policy.
  • Assist consumers in developing Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE) within 90 days of eligibility.
  • Manage an average caseload of 40 active cases, ensuring successful rehabilitation closures.
  • Develop 15 first IPEs for consumers entering Service Status.
  • Plan and manage case service funds, preparing and submitting documentation as required.
  • Complete agency reports in compliance with federal, state, and agency policies.
  • Maintain contact with consumers at least once every 90 days and document interactions.
  • Conduct annual plan reviews on all IPEs and document findings in the case management system.
  • Document measurable skill gains and income gains for successful closures.
  • Conduct vocational and functional skills assessments and provide rehabilitation teaching as needed.
  • Establish rapport with the business community to facilitate job placements.
  • Participate in or conduct in-service trainings and represent the agency on various committees.
