Valley Animal Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team! Our AAHA Accredited Hospital in Akron has been offering high-quality care to pets for more than 30 years, and we hope to continue this tradition for many years to come! Our fully trained staff is committed to ensuring that your pet flourishes through all their stages of life by providing a complete range of services. These include preventive care, surgery, dentistry, grooming, laser therapy, and more! We're always happy to introduce new, advanced technology at our practice in our continued efforts to provide pets with the best possible care. Someone with Surgical experience is a must have for this role.

  • Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian (DVM).
  • Maintain clear and accurate medical, client, and case records using appropriate terminology and grammar.
  • Review medical records, treatment estimates, and discharge instructions with clients, and respond to basic animal care inquiries, escalating medical questions to veterinarians as needed.
  • Guide and support medical support staff to ensure efficient shift operations and workflow.
  • Mentor team members to encourage career growth and personal development.
  • Provide input for 360-degree performance evaluations of employees.
  • Assist with client services including appointment scheduling, payments, check-in, and courteous phone communication.
  • Provide feedback and suggest improvements to training programs; participate in training sessions, job shadows, and working interviews.
  • Perform assigned cleaning, clinic upkeep, and equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Delegate cleaning or other duties during slow periods when a supervisor is unavailable.
  • Identify and address areas needing additional attention within the clinic environment.
  • Answer client inquiries confidently about routine procedures and animal care.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients to support patient care and hospital operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the nature and level of work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • Current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
  • One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in a range of technical skills including laboratory procedures, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental care, and nursing.
  • Ability to administer subcutaneous (SQ), intramuscular (IM), and intravenous (IV) injections.
  • Knowledge of commonly used veterinary medications including dosage, side effects, and client communication.
  • Understanding of anesthesia and patient recovery monitoring, with the ability to recognize and report changes in patient status.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful or fast-paced environments, including medical emergencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort and confidence in handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.
