Requirements

  • Active CVT license in Florida
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, including at least 1 year with exotic animals.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in anesthesia, radiology, laboratory procedures, and surgical prep/monitoring.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends or holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a high-volume or specialty practice.
  • Fear-Free certification and/or exotics-specific CE credits.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians and assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
  • Provide hands-on technical support in exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites, with a focus on exotic species.
  • Oversee training and continued education for staff on exotic animal handling, diagnostics, and treatment protocols.
  • Manage technician scheduling, performance evaluations, and assist with hiring decisions.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and leadership to implement hospital protocols.
  • Maintain inventory, medical equipment, and controlled substance logs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Support client education and communication, particularly regarding the care and husbandry of exotic pets.
