About The Position

Job duties include, but are not limited to: Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management, and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases. Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license or 3 - 4 years veterinary technician experience, ideally with eligibility to take the VTNE and become licensed.
  • Rotating weekend availability is required
  • Ability to carry out therapeutic exercises.
  • Must be able to train and assist patients in performing exercises, monitor for proper technique and for signs of fatigue.
  • Perform basic massage techniques.
  • Utilize modalities including class IV laser, therapeutic ultrasound, E-stim and underwater treadmill.
  • Teach clients how to perform home exercises as part of home exercise program.
  • Maintain medical records on rehab appointments.
  • Physically demanding position. Must be able to get up and down from floor easily, bend over, lift 40-50 lbs.
  • Utilize fear free approaches in patient handling.
  • Assist in maintenance of rehab equipment and space.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with DVM about patient progress and any concerns.
  • Be able to effectively and compassionately communicate with clients.
  • As needed, assist rehab DVM with evaluations, sedated procedures, or orthopedic radiographs.

Nice To Haves

  • Rehab certification (CCRP,CCRT or equivalent) preferred, or minimum of 1 year working as a rehab technician.
