Visit us online at: https://www.aikenregional.com Position Description: Transcribes all of physicians’ patient consultation summaries; weekly chart notes, follow-up reports; completion summaries; correspondence and department meetings. Files daily dictation into patient’s charts. Prepares outgoing mail to be picked up by hospital courier. Maintains and submits reports for Transcriptionist QA Program.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in allied health field preferred.
  • One year experience as Tumor Registrar preferred.
  • Medical Terminology required.
  • Knowledge of statistical reporting and basic understanding of anatomy. Must have excellent communication skills and computer skills.
  • Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) strongly preferred, or must obtain within two years of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Helps to ensure compliance with department and institution policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures appropriate statistical information is maintained and meets American College of Surgeons guidelines for Accreditation.
  • Abstracts all inpatient and outpatient records with diagnosis of cancer and maintains manual files.
  • Performs follow up on all patients.
  • Assists in planning and notification of meetings and conferences related to Tumor Registry.
  • Assists in solving all problems involving medical staff related to the Tumor Registry area.
  • Assists in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
