About The Position

The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist position at Texas Health Resources involves providing therapeutic recreation services in a fast-paced Behavioral Health department. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or a related discipline required.
• 2 years of healthcare-related Counseling or Social Work preferred.
• CTRS - Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist upon hire required.
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days required.

Responsibilities

• Perform age-appropriate patient treatment using therapeutic techniques suitable for the patient's age and treatment desires.
• Conduct treatment procedures within the scope of professional license and delegate technical procedures safely.
• Utilize various treatment techniques to achieve therapeutic goals as necessary.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatment and reassess progress regularly.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, safety issues, and self-management techniques through instruction and demonstration.
• Maintain patient safety throughout treatment processes.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare personnel regarding patient care issues.
• Demonstrate competence in age-appropriate patient treatment and individualize care based on specific needs.
