Possesses knowledge and understanding of the types of procedures performed in OB, including cesarean sections and postpartum surgeries , with appropriate use of surgical instrumentation. Arranges instrumentation to achieve maximum efficiency, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, maintains the integrity of the sterile field, and participates in surgical counts. As a Surgical Technologist supporting our Labor & Delivery unit , you’ll: Prepare and arrange OB-specific surgical instruments and equipment for cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and assist the team in providing efficient and safe care. Maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic technique. Collaborate with OB/GYNs, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other team members to deliver patient-centered care. Assist in patient transfer and post-op care with professionalism and compassion. Participate in surgical counts and assist with specimen handling. ----- Qualifications: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience or certification required. Surgical Technologist experience preferred in all of the below areas: Dental ENT General Surgery Neurosurgery OB/GYN Orthopedics Pediatric Neurosurgery Pediatrics Plastics/Breasts Podiatry Robotics Surgical Oncology Thoracic Urology Vascular Surgical Technologist Certification through the certifying body of the Association of Surgical Technologists, Inc. preferred. Current AHA BLS Certification or must successfully obtain within two (2) months of hire. Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently. Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
