About The Position

This position functions as a professional under the direct and continuous supervision of qualified professional registered nurses. In accordance with established procedures and aseptic principles, the Certified Surgical Technologist functions as a first scrub/scrub assistant in selected cases to render quality service to patients of all ages and surgeons during operative procedures. The role contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room and requires cross-training between the Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.

Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
Licensure: Certified CST from NBSTSA
Certification: BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross required.
New Requirement as of 10/1/2023, uncertified Techs have 18 months to provide proof of certification.
THOfNE gives 1 chance to pass licensure exam.

Nice To Haves

Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists with the preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.
Assumes responsibility for the proper care of all supplies and equipment
Transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa
Assists with lifting and positioning patients.
Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee
Contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.
Cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.
